The same two known terms are ‘health’ and ‘fitness.’ We often tell or use these words whenever we say phrases like ‘health is wealth’ and ‘fitness is the key.’ What does the word health mean? It implies the idea of ‘being well.’ A healthy and fit person is one when they can function well physically as well as mentally. Proper health and fitness do not depend on our own but also our physical environment and the quality of food intake.

Health and fitness is the essential aspect of our life. There is nothing more important than health for any human being. When we are healthy and fit, we can enjoy our life well. We can talk to our near and dear ones. We can laugh, smile, travel, enjoy food, and sleep well.

Aspects of being Healthy

There are five main aspects of personal health: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual. To be considered “well,” it is imperative for none of these areas to be neglected. The best way to maintain health is to preserve it through a healthful lifestyle rather than waiting until sickness or infirmity to address health problems. People use the name wellness to describe this continuous state of enhanced well-being.

Physical health

Exercise-Even walking 30 minutes a day three times a week will significantly improve your health. Eat Healthily. Avoid fried foods, soft drinks, processed meats, and sweets. Try to include five servings of fruits and vegetables in your diet every day. Don’t skip meals.

Significantly breakfast slows down your metabolic rate and can cause weight gain. Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night. One of our most neglected requirements throughout the day is water. Most people don’t drink nearly enough. Remember the 8×8 rule, meaning eight glasses of eight ounces (237 ml) of water daily. The human body is composed of roughly 70% water, which is necessary for cellular functions. 

Yoga has got a lot of health and fitness benefits such as flexibility, burning calories, increased blood flow, boosts immunity. Proper food selection leads to eating healthily. The intake of vitamins in vegetables and fruits, proteins found in whole grains, and lean meat keep us healthy.

Eat foods that have less oil are suitable to control cholesterol levels. Avoid smoking and drinking as they affect our sleep which is essential for the body to remain healthy and good shape. Exercising improves the general health of the body. One must take at least thirty minutes a day to do some exercises or walk.

Emotional health 

Since a healthy individual is not only limited to being physically fit, I would also like to throw some light on mental or emotional health. With our busy schedules, we often overburden ourselves with work and tend to ignore our mental health, which can have devastating effects in the long run. Mental health, if not more, is as important as physical health. If we are engrossed with feelings of depression, anxiety, etc., we must make sure to meditate as it will help bring a sense of calm. 

Try to maintain a positive attitude even when problems arise. Discover your stress reliever. Manage your time wisely because it will help lower stress. Find someone that you trust with who you can openly share your feelings. Need to talk? See your counselor. Please seek professional help when you need it. 

Spiritual health

Spirituality is the way you find meaning, hope, comfort, and inner peace in your life. Many people find spirituality through religion. Some people find it through music, art, or a connection with nature. Others find it in their values and principles. If you want to improve your spiritual health, you may want to try the following ideas. However, remember that everyone is different. What works for others may not work for you. Do what is comfortable for you.

Identify the things in your life that give you a sense of inner peace, comfort, strength, love, and connection. Set aside time every day to do the things that help you spiritually. These may include doing community service or volunteer work, praying, meditating, singing devotional songs, reading inspirational books, taking nature walks, having quiet time for thinking, doing yoga, playing a sport, or attending religious services.

Find a quiet place and spend time there every day. We should meditate in silence and try to seek comfort. Yoga helps in physical fitness as well as spiritual health fitness. Contemplate the meaning of your life. If you have a religion, study and practice it. Spend time appreciating the natural world around you.

Always remember to give equal importance to your spiritual and emotional health as you give to physical health.

Social health

Humans are a naturally social species. So it should serve as no surprise that solid and positive relationships can have a tremendously positive effect on our overall health. Get involved. There are a variety of clubs and organized on campus; you’re bound to find something that interests you.

Know who your best friends are. Recognize when you are in an unhealthy relationship. Balance your social life with your academic responsibility. Social wellness starts with how you view yourself. One of the most common misconceptions about self-love is that it’s a form of selfishness or vanity—it’s quite the opposite! When you love and respect yourself, your mood becomes more positive, you become more confident, and you’re more likely to socialize with others in your community.

Intellectual health

Keep abreast of current affairs. Take your work seriously and spend time in the library. Become a life-long learner. A change of scene or a change of pace is good for your mental health.

It could be a five-minute pause from cleaning your kitchen, a half-hour lunch break at work, or a weekend exploring somewhere new. A few minutes can be enough to de-stress you.

Give yourself – my time. Enjoying yourself helps beat stress. Doing an activity you want probably means you’re good at it and achieving something boosts your self-esteem. Concentrating on a hobby like gardening or the crossword can help you forget your worries for a while and change your mood.
